Quite pleased with the authenticity of my accent too. That reminded me of when I was little and had been naughty and Gloribee wanted to smack me with a plakkie or a wooden spoon – and I run around the huge scrubbed kitchen table talking nonsense in a whole range of accents: French, Italian (our neighbour), Irish (the Protestant missionaries from Northern Ireland), even Welsh (too many repeats of “How Green Was My Valley”). I’d only shut up when my mother started laughing and forgot the crime she’d been chasing me for.
